During this lecture, Donna Freitas will discuss the findings of her researching about students attitudes regarding hookup culture, sex, romance, spirituality, dating, and meaningful relationship on college campuses today. She will also talk about the powerful--though often private--yearnings among men and women to find love during college despite the dominance of hookup culture.

Donna Freitas is the author of Sex and the Soul: Juggling Sexuality, Spirituality, Romance and Religion on America's College Campuses, published by Oxford University Press in 2008. Her most recent nonfiction title, The End of Sex, was published by Basic Books in April, 2013. Freitas has written for national newspapers and magazines about religion, sex, hookup culture, and life on a college campus today, including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Boston Globe, and The Washington Post. She has appeared on NPR, The Today Show, CNN, and many other news media outlets discussing her work for Sex and the Soul and The End of Sex, and she has lectured about this research at nearly eighty colleges and universities across the United States. In recent years, Freitas has been a professor at Boston University in the Department of Religion and at Hofstra University in their Honors College. She is currently a Research Associate at the University of Notre Dame in the Center for the Study of Religion and Society. She lives in Brooklyn.
